President & Chief Executive Officer
Michael Ioannou is President and CEO of NAURA Akrion Inc. He served in that role for Akrion Systems from 2009-2017 and before becoming CEO, he held the position of Chief Operating Officer, starting in July of 2007. Michael joined the semiconductor industry in 1999 holding various executive positions in Engineering, Product and Technology Development and Customer Service in Factory Automation, Ion Implant and Electron Beam technology. Prior to joining the Semiconductor industry he had a long and successful career in the aircraft industry both in the US and Canada. Michael holds a MBA from the City University in Seattle, Washington and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Applied Science in Aerospace from the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
W. James Whittle
Chief Financial Officer
James Whittle serves as Chief Financial Officer. He has over 20 years of experience as chief financial officer for capital equipment and consumer oriented manufacturing companies, serving in positions for companies such as Akrion Systems, National Diversified Sales Inc., where he was CFO, which during his tenure doubled in size through acquisition and organic growth; Data Switch Corporation a NASDAQ listed public company where he was CFO and President; and Sterling Fluid Products, a privately held manufacturing company that grew from $60 million to $275 million during his tenure. Experienced in international business and speaking several languages, Whittle has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from North London Polytechnic and is certified as a Chartered Management Accountant in the UK and is an International Associate of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Ismail Kashkoush, Ph.D.
Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Kashkoush is responsible for managing the Engineering, Technology and Product Lines teams for the company. Dr. Kashkoush has been with the company and its predecessors since 1993 and led engineering and technology teams for the development of surface preparation products and processes. His last position held was the VP of Technology. In his role as the CTO, Dr. Kashkoush develops the strategy and provides leadership for the engineering teams to drive the new product pipeline that delivers sustained and profitable growth. He also oversees the introduction of the company’s products globally; focusing on the company’s strategic technical needs over various technology nodes. Dr. Kashkoush maintains the technology roadmap to support company growth objectives for all FEOL/BEOL processes. Dr. Kashkoush joined the semiconductor industry in 1988 and since then held various R&D positions in Technology, Process Engineering, and Product Development. To his credit, Dr. Kashkoush holds 25 patents in the field of wafer surface preparation science and technology. In addition, he has published and co-authored more than 65 articles in the area of micro-contamination characterization, removal, and control. Dr. Kashkoush conducts regular seminars on wafer surface preparation technology for the IC, MEMS, FPD and PV sectors. He received his PhD in engineering sciences from Clarkson University (Potsdam, NY) in 1993.
Vice President, Global Sales
William (Bill) Amstutz serves as Vice President, Global Sales. Bill has more than thirty years of capital equipment sales experience in the semiconductor industry, working for companies such as SubMicron Systems, Primaxx, Verteq, Soitec, Quantum Clean and Akrion Systems.
Vice President, Customer Support
Robert Mills is the Vice President of Customer Support. He manages field service, warranties, technical support, technical training, and technical publications. Mr. Mills has been with the company and its predecessors since 1996, having provided several duties including product enhancement electrical engineering, project management and various service responsibilities. Prior to his work with this company, Mills worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources and at the Ben Franklin Technology Center in microcircuit manufacturing. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. Mr. Mills is a veteran of the United States Navy having the rank of ET1 (SS), serving from 1979-1987 as a Submarine Nuclear Reactor Operator.
Vice President, Operations
Gary Zimmerman serves as Vice President of Operations. He is responsible for managing the facility, as well as for procuring materials, and managing the quality, production and testing of NAURA Akrion’s extensive product line. Mr. Zimmerman has been with the company and its predecessors since 1992, having managed many of the functions listed above. Mr. Zimmerman has been in the electronics industry since 1984, working for companies such as KDI Electronics and Optimax Inc. in various technical engineering functions.
